"Yaralla" open day information sheet

Welcome to our Open Day. Here is some information which will help to make the day run easier for all.

We are privileged to have been allowed to conduct this inspection, especially the interior of the mansion, and we want to know that we will be welcomed beck another time.

The inner gate will be open from 9:30 am until 3:30 pm. Admission is by ticket only.

The only time restriction is for the tours of the mansion, for the rest of the time you are free to go anywhere but Into the mansion.

PARKING

There will be limited parking in the grounds between the main gate in Nullawarra Avenue (opposite The Drive) and the inner gate. Park only on the left side of the driveway. Please park carefully, nose or tail in, so that other drivers are not inconvenienced and as many as possible can park. The only other parking will be in the streets.

TOUR OF MANSION

Because the mansion is in use as a Dialysis Unit and contains much valuable equipment, we must limit the number of people in the house at any one time, and not all rooms will be open. Those rooms not open for inspection do not contain anything of architectural interest, or else they are similar to others on show. Tours should take approximately 35-40 minutes.

Because of the number of people wanting to take part in this tour, and to allow everyone to have a chance to see the interior, we have had to allocate a time for your tour of the mansion. This time is shown on your ticket. You will need to show your ticket to join the tour group through the mansion.

We would ask you to please adhere strictly to this time. We would also ask you to assemble at the main entrance to the mansion a short time before your tour is due to start so that groups can be organised and we can keep to the timetable.

If you are bringing children it will be your responsibility to keep them with you at all times. Please do not go into any of the rooms that the tour guide does not open for inspection, and keep with the guide at all times.

MUSICAL ENTERTAINMENT

may sometimes be provided.

TOURS OF THE GROUNDS

These will leave from the front of the Mansion, commencing at 10:30 am and thereafter will leave at regular intervals as groups assemble. It is up to you to choose the time you wish to undertake this tour. No tickets required.

We try to keep the groups to approximately 20 people, only to allow you to hear what your guides have to tell you and to be able to get through quickly so that all visitors will be able to take part.

The tour will take approximately 1-1/2 hours and we would suggest that you wear comfortable shoes as there is a lot of walking involved.

PHOTOGRAPHIC DISPLAY

There will be a display of photographs, etc. in the stables complex, pertaining to the Walkers and Yaralla.

SOUVENIRS

Tour booklets, other pamphlets, etc. will be available for sale in the display area.

It is an A4 250-page book containing over 200 photographs from Walker family albums, including Dame Eadith's own albums, most of which have never been published before. The cost is $33.00.
